We’re starting gently today with a simple and very sweet Christmas card using the beautiful A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper and the Stitched Stocking Bundle. This is a lovely beginner-friendly project, but it’s also perfect for experienced card makers who want a quick, repeatable Christmas card design.
Today’s card features a layered DSP panel, a die-cut stocking, a stamped Christmas greeting and a little stitched ribbon. The stocking is the star of the card, and you can keep it simple with one DSP pattern or make it patchwork-style using tiny scraps.
This is the sort of card you could make again and again in different papers and colours. Change the greeting, add a button, use a foil mat or keep it clean and simple.
Today’s Challenge
Create one simple Christmas card using a DSP panel and one feature die-cut.
Make it calm, cosy and achievable. One Christmas card made in July is one card you don’t need to rush in December.
This pretty Christmas card uses the Stitched Seasons Designer Series Paper, Stitched Stocking stamps and dies, Real Red stitched ribbon, a white button and a little Silver Foil for sparkle. The faux stitching around the panels ties in beautifully with the stitched details in the dies and gives the whole card a cosy, handmade finish.

Cutting & Die-Cutting Preparation
Before assembling the card, die cut the following pieces:
From Real Red cardstock:
• Large stocking
• Holly berries
From Old Olive cardstock:
• Stocking topper
• Holly leaves
• Small Christmas trees
From Stitched Seasons DSP:
• Small stocking layer
From Silver Foil cardstock:
• Large snowflake or star-style embellishment
From Basic White cardstock:
• Sentiment label or stitched sentiment panel
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Create the Card Base
Fold the Old Olive cardstock on the 14.5cm score line.
Burnish well with a bone folder so the card sits neatly.
2. Decorate the Inside
Adhere the Basic White 14cm x 10cm panel to the inside of the card.
Layer the Basic White 13.5cm x 9.5cm panel over the top, centring it evenly.
This gives the inside of the card a lovely layered finish and a clean space for writing your Christmas message.
3. Add the Front Mat and DSP Panel
Adhere the Real Red 14.5cm x 9cm cardstock piece to the card front, centring it from side to side.
Next, adhere the Stitched Seasons DSP 14.5cm x 8.5cm panel on top of the Real Red mat.
This creates a narrow Real Red border down each side of the DSP and helps the patterned paper stand out beautifully against the Old Olive base.
4. Add Faux Stitching
Using a white gel pen, draw faux stitching lines down either side of the front DSP panel.
You can use short dash lines to echo the stitched look of the dies.
Set the card base aside for a few moments so the gel pen ink can dry properly. This is a good time to start assembling the stocking.
5. Assemble the Stocking
Take the large Real Red stocking and glue the small DSP stocking layer onto the front.
Add the Old Olive stocking topper using Dimensionals. This gives the stocking extra depth and makes the top look nicely raised.
Position the Old Olive holly leaves on the stocking topper or upper corner of the stocking and glue them in place.
Add the Real Red holly berries over the leaves.
Glue a small Old Olive Christmas tree onto one of the darker areas of the stocking so it stands out clearly.
6. Add the Stocking to the Card Front
Position the finished stocking on the card front, slightly to one side or centred depending on the look you prefer.
Adhere it with Dimensionals so it sits forward from the DSP panel.
This gives the card lovely dimension and makes the stocking the main feature.
7. Add Ribbon and Button Details
Tie a small bow using the Real Red Stitched Ribbon.
Attach the bow to the top of the stocking with a glue dot.
Use another glue dot to attach the white button to the card front. You can place it near the stocking, beside the sentiment or on a corner of the DSP panel.
8. Stamp and Add the Sentiment
Die cut a sentiment panel from the Basic White 5cm x 6cm cardstock.
Stamp your Christmas greeting using a coordinating ink colour such as Real Red, Old Olive or a darker neutral.
Attach the sentiment panel to the card front using Dimensionals.
For a balanced layout, tuck the sentiment slightly over the stocking or place it near the lower right-hand side of the card.
9. Add the Foil Embellishment
Add the Silver Foil snowflake or star to the card front as a final touch.
You can tuck it partly behind the sentiment, place it near the stocking, or use it as a small accent in the top corner.
The silver foil adds a little Christmas sparkle without taking away from the warm quilted feel of the card.
Finishing Tips
Let the faux stitching dry fully before handling the card too much, as gel pen can smudge.
For extra detail, add faux stitching around the Real Red mat, the sentiment label or even the stocking pieces.
You can change the look of this card completely by swapping the DSP pattern. Try a bold red pattern for a traditional card, a green quilt block for a softer look, or a darker navy pattern for contrast.
