Day 2 — Quilt Block Gift Tag Set

Welcome to Day 2 of our 31 Days of Christmas Challenge at Stampin’ Among the Gum Trees.

Today we’re making a sweet little set of quilt block gift tags using the gorgeous A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper — and because pretty handmade tags deserve somewhere pretty to live, we’re also making a surprise peek-a-boo gift box to hold them.

This is one of those lovely projects that looks thoughtful and special, but is really very achievable. And even better, it’s a beautiful way to use those small pieces of DSP that are far too pretty to throw away.

You know the ones. Those little strips and squares that sit on the side of your desk because you’re sure they’ll be useful for something. Today, they are.

Why Quilt Block Tags?
One of the things I love most about the A Stitched Season DSP is the cosy patchwork feel. The papers have that warm, homespun Christmas look — quilt blocks, soft greens, rich reds, creamy backgrounds, little stitched details and just enough traditional Christmas charm without being too loud.

That makes them perfect for gift tags.

A small tag doesn’t need a lot of decoration. A few little squares of DSP, a stitched label shape, a stamped greeting, a scrap of ribbon and perhaps a tiny button are enough to turn it into something really lovely.

And honestly, handmade tags are one of the easiest ways to make Christmas feel more personal without spending a fortune or spending hours and hours at the craft table.

Today’s Project
For today’s project, we’ll create a small set of Christmas gift tags using:
• cardstock tag bases
• scraps of A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper
• stitched label shapes
• stamped Christmas greetings
• red stitched ribbon
• buttons or tiny die-cut embellishments

Each tag can be the same, or each one can be a little different. I rather like making them as a coordinating set — not matching exactly, but all looking like they belong together.
You might use one tag with a little quilt block centre, one with a tiny stocking, and one with a Christmas tree or button feature. The colours and patterns in the suite will tie them all together beautifully.

The Surprise Peek-a-Boo Gift Box
And then we’re going to make a little box to hold them.
This isn’t just a plain box — we’re adding a peek-a-boo detail, which gives it that little extra “oh, that’s cute!” moment.

It’s the sort of box you could give as a small handmade gift on its own. Imagine filling it with a set of handmade tags and giving it to a friend, neighbour, teacher, craft buddy or someone who loves wrapping presents.

It would also be lovely for a Christmas market stall, a small thank-you gift, or even as a little extra tucked into a hamper.

The box keeps the tags together neatly, and it makes the whole project feel finished. It turns scraps of paper into a proper handmade gift.

A Lovely Way to Use Scraps
This is a very scrap-friendly project.

You don’t need full sheets of DSP for gift tags. In fact, smaller pieces often work better because you can mix and match the patterns to create that quilted look.

Use little squares, narrow strips, offcuts from card fronts, leftover pieces from die-cutting — all those bits that might otherwise end up in the bin.

Nothing needs to match perfectly. That’s part of the charm. Quilts aren’t about every piece being identical; they’re about bringing little pieces together to make something beautiful.
Paper crafting is exactly the same.

How to Use These Tags
These handmade gift tags would be lovely on:
Christmas presents, handmade food gifts, jars of jam or chutney, Christmas hampers, teacher gifts, neighbour gifts, gift bags, bottles, wrapped biscuits, homemade sweets or parcels wrapped in simple brown paper.

In fact, simple wrapping is where handmade tags really shine.

A piece of brown paper, a length of ribbon or twine, and one of these quilt block tags would look beautiful. Calm, cosy, thoughtful and very handmade.

And if you start making tags now, one little set at a time, you won’t be scrambling around in December looking for the last crumpled packet of gift tags from the back of the drawer. Ask me how I know.

Make Them Your Way
You can keep your tags very simple with just DSP and a greeting, or you can add a few extra details.

Try adding:
• a tiny die-cut stocking
• a little Christmas tree
• a button in the centre of a quilt block
• a small silver or gold foil star
• faux stitching with a white gel pen
• a ribbon bow
• a stamped “to” and “from” on the back

If you’re making a few sets, keep the basic tag shape the same and just change the DSP. That way they come together quickly but still look interesting.

Today’s Challenge
Today’s challenge is:
Make three Christmas gift tags using DSP scraps.
That’s it. Three tags.
They don’t need to be complicated. They don’t need to be perfect. They just need to be made.
Pop them into your Christmas box now and you’ll thank yourself later. There is something very satisfying about slowly building a little stash of handmade Christmas things in July.

Day 1 — Simple Stitched Stocking Christmas Card

Welcome to Day 1 of our 31 Days of Christmas Stitched Seasons Suite Daily YouTube Challenge at Stampin’ Among the Gum Trees.

We’re starting gently today with a simple and very sweet Christmas card using the beautiful A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper and the Stitched Stocking Bundle. This is a lovely beginner-friendly project, but it’s also perfect for experienced card makers who want a quick, repeatable Christmas card design.

Today’s card features a layered DSP panel, a die-cut stocking, a stamped Christmas greeting and a little stitched ribbon. The stocking is the star of the card, and you can keep it simple with one DSP pattern or make it patchwork-style using tiny scraps.

This is the sort of card you could make again and again in different papers and colours. Change the greeting, add a button, use a foil mat or keep it clean and simple.

Today’s Challenge

Create one simple Christmas card using a DSP panel and one feature die-cut.

Make it calm, cosy and achievable. One Christmas card made in July is one card you don’t need to rush in December.

This pretty Christmas card uses the Stitched Seasons Designer Series Paper, Stitched Stocking stamps and dies, Real Red stitched ribbon, a white button and a little Silver Foil for sparkle. The faux stitching around the panels ties in beautifully with the stitched details in the dies and gives the whole card a cosy, handmade finish.

Card Recipe
Finished Card Size
14.5cm x 10.5cm portrait card

You Will Need
Cardstock & Paper
• Old Olive cardstock: 29cm x 10.5cm, scored at 14.5cm
• Basic White cardstock: 14cm x 10cm
• Basic White cardstock: 13.5cm x 9.5cm
• Basic White cardstock: 5cm x 6cm for sentiment
• Real Red cardstock: 14.5cm x 9cm
• Stitched Seasons DSP: 14.5cm x 8.5cm
• Real Red cardstock: 12.5cm x 9cm for large stocking
• Stitched Seasons DSP: 12.5cm x 9cm for small stocking
• Old Olive cardstock: 3 pieces measuring 2.5cm x 4cm
• Scraps of Old Olive, Real Red and Silver Foil for die-cut embellishments

Embellishments
• Real Red Stitched Ribbon
• 1 white button
• White gel pen

Stamps, Dies & Tools
• Stitched Stocking stamps
• Stitched Stocking dies
• Christmas greeting stamp
• Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
• Paper trimmer
• Bone folder
• Adhesive
• Dimensionals
• Glue dots

Cutting & Die-Cutting Preparation
Before assembling the card, die cut the following pieces:
From Real Red cardstock:
• Large stocking
• Holly berries

From Old Olive cardstock:
• Stocking topper
• Holly leaves
• Small Christmas trees

From Stitched Seasons DSP:
• Small stocking layer

From Silver Foil cardstock:
• Large snowflake or star-style embellishment
From Basic White cardstock:
• Sentiment label or stitched sentiment panel

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Create the Card Base
Fold the Old Olive cardstock on the 14.5cm score line.
Burnish well with a bone folder so the card sits neatly.

2. Decorate the Inside
Adhere the Basic White 14cm x 10cm panel to the inside of the card.
Layer the Basic White 13.5cm x 9.5cm panel over the top, centring it evenly.
This gives the inside of the card a lovely layered finish and a clean space for writing your Christmas message.

3. Add the Front Mat and DSP Panel
Adhere the Real Red 14.5cm x 9cm cardstock piece to the card front, centring it from side to side.
Next, adhere the Stitched Seasons DSP 14.5cm x 8.5cm panel on top of the Real Red mat.
This creates a narrow Real Red border down each side of the DSP and helps the patterned paper stand out beautifully against the Old Olive base.

4. Add Faux Stitching
Using a white gel pen, draw faux stitching lines down either side of the front DSP panel.
You can use short dash lines to echo the stitched look of the dies.
Set the card base aside for a few moments so the gel pen ink can dry properly. This is a good time to start assembling the stocking.

5. Assemble the Stocking
Take the large Real Red stocking and glue the small DSP stocking layer onto the front.
Add the Old Olive stocking topper using Dimensionals. This gives the stocking extra depth and makes the top look nicely raised.
Position the Old Olive holly leaves on the stocking topper or upper corner of the stocking and glue them in place.
Add the Real Red holly berries over the leaves.
Glue a small Old Olive Christmas tree onto one of the darker areas of the stocking so it stands out clearly.

6. Add the Stocking to the Card Front
Position the finished stocking on the card front, slightly to one side or centred depending on the look you prefer.
Adhere it with Dimensionals so it sits forward from the DSP panel.
This gives the card lovely dimension and makes the stocking the main feature.

7. Add Ribbon and Button Details
Tie a small bow using the Real Red Stitched Ribbon.
Attach the bow to the top of the stocking with a glue dot.
Use another glue dot to attach the white button to the card front. You can place it near the stocking, beside the sentiment or on a corner of the DSP panel.

8. Stamp and Add the Sentiment
Die cut a sentiment panel from the Basic White 5cm x 6cm cardstock.
Stamp your Christmas greeting using a coordinating ink colour such as Real Red, Old Olive or a darker neutral.
Attach the sentiment panel to the card front using Dimensionals.
For a balanced layout, tuck the sentiment slightly over the stocking or place it near the lower right-hand side of the card.

9. Add the Foil Embellishment
Add the Silver Foil snowflake or star to the card front as a final touch.
You can tuck it partly behind the sentiment, place it near the stocking, or use it as a small accent in the top corner.
The silver foil adds a little Christmas sparkle without taking away from the warm quilted feel of the card.

Finishing Tips
Let the faux stitching dry fully before handling the card too much, as gel pen can smudge.
For extra detail, add faux stitching around the Real Red mat, the sentiment label or even the stocking pieces.
You can change the look of this card completely by swapping the DSP pattern. Try a bold red pattern for a traditional card, a green quilt block for a softer look, or a darker navy pattern for contrast.

Week 6 Use It Up Sketch Challenge: A Pretty Floral Card to Inspire Your Creativity

There is something lovely about sitting down at the craft table with a cup of tea, a few favourite supplies and a simple card sketch to get the creative ideas flowing.
Sometimes we want to make a card, but we are not quite sure where to begin. We might have beautiful stamps, pretty papers, dies and embellishments waiting patiently on the shelf, but putting them together can feel a little overwhelming.

That is exactly why I love a card sketch.

A card sketch gives you a gentle starting point. It takes away the pressure of designing a card from scratch, while still leaving plenty of room for you to choose your own colours, papers, images and style.

For Week 6 of the Stampin’ Among the Gum Trees Use It Up Sketch Challenge, I chose a beautiful layered floral design featuring a textured background, a framed centre panel, a pretty pot filled with flowers and foliage, a little bow and a small sentiment banner.

It is soft, detailed and elegant — but the sketch itself is wonderfully versatile.

Why Try a Card Sketch?

A card sketch is a little like a recipe for your card. It shows you where the main layers and elements can sit, but you get to choose the ingredients.

You can follow the sketch quite closely, or you can use it as inspiration and create something completely different.

You might choose:
• A bright floral arrangement for a birthday card.
• Soft flowers and leaves for a thinking of you card.
• Christmas greenery and poinsettias for a festive version.
• Autumn leaves and berries for a warm seasonal card.
• Butterflies, birds or even a sweet stamped image instead of flowers.

There is no right or wrong way to use a sketch. The idea is simply to help you get started, use what you already have and enjoy some peaceful creative time.

Week 6 Card Sketch Details
This sketch has been designed for a portrait card with a finished size of 10.5cm x 14.5cm.

To create your card base:
• Cut cardstock to 29cm x 10.5cm.
• Score at 14.5cm.
• Fold and burnish to create your portrait card base.

The design includes:
• A layered background panel.
• An embossed or textured white layer.
• A framed rectangular focal panel.
• A pot, vase or container near the bottom.
• A floral arrangement as the main feature.
• A small sentiment banner.
• A bow and simple embellishments to finish.

Begin with Your Background Layers

Start by choosing a cardstock colour for your card base. A deep green, pretty blue, soft pink, warm neutral or any colour you love would work beautifully with this sketch.
Cut a contrasting mat layer to approximately 14 x 10.5cm.

For the next layer, cut white or Very Vanilla cardstock to approximately 13 x 9.5cm and emboss it with a favourite embossing folder.

This is a lovely opportunity to bring out an embossing folder you may not have used in a while. Floral patterns, leaves, linen texture, lace or even a simple subtle pattern will add beautiful interest without taking attention away from your main feature.

Layer the embossed panel onto your contrasting cardstock, then adhere both to the card front.

Create the Framed Feature Panel

The centre of this card is a framed rectangular panel.
Cut or die-cut a rectangle approximately 7cm x 11cm, then add a smaller inner panel approximately 6.5cm x 10.5cm.

A stitched rectangle die is lovely for this design, but you do not need special dies to make it work. A simple rectangle cut with your paper trimmer will still look beautiful. You could even add faux stitching around the edge with a fine-tip pen.

Attach this panel to the card front using Dimensionals to lift it slightly from the embossed background.

Build Your Floral Feature

Now comes the really fun part — creating your floral arrangement.

For the inspiration card, the flowers and foliage rise from a little pot at the bottom of the framed panel. You could recreate this with stamped images, dies, punches or even fussy-cut flowers from Designer Series Paper.
Start by placing your pot, vase, jar, basket or watering can toward the bottom of the panel.

Then begin adding your flowers and foliage. Place the taller leafy pieces toward the back, then add your larger flowers, smaller blooms and extra leaves across the centre.

Let some of the greenery wander a little outside the frame. Those gentle overlapping details add movement and make the card feel lush and abundant.

And remember, you do not need to copy the flower arrangement exactly. Use what is on your desk. Use the stamps and dies you love. Use those small pieces of paper you have been saving because they were simply too pretty to throw away.

Add a Sweet Little Sentiment

A small greeting tucked into the flowers is all this card needs.

Try a sentiment such as:
• Hello
• Thinking of You
• Just Because
• Happy Birthday
• Thank You
• For You

Stamp your sentiment onto a narrow strip of cardstock, trim one end into a banner shape and tuck it gently into the floral arrangement.

A small bow of linen thread, twine or ribbon placed near the base of the flowers adds that lovely handmade softness to the design.

Finish with a few pearls, rhinestones or tiny flower centres if you wish.

Make the Sketch Your Own

This is one of those sketches that can look completely different every time you use it.

For a simpler card, stamp one large floral image instead of creating lots of layered die cuts. Leave out the embossing, use a plain centre panel and add a simple sentiment.

For a stepped-up card, add vellum leaves, heat emboss the sentiment, shape the flower petals, layer in some metallic thread or add shimmer to the flowers.

You could even replace the pot of flowers with:
• A basket of blooms.
• A bunch of Christmas foliage.
• A teacup filled with flowers.
• A stack of presents.
• A little birdhouse surrounded by leaves.
• A sweet scene created from your favourite stamp set.

That is the beauty of card sketches. They give you direction without taking away your creativity.

Craft Along and Use What You Have

The Use It Up Sketch Challenge is all about enjoying your supplies, rediscovering things you may have forgotten you owned and giving yourself permission to create without needing everything to be brand new.

Bring out your cardstock scraps, your favourite retired Designer Series Paper, your stamps, dies, embossing folders, ribbons and embellishments. Choose the pieces that make you happy and see where this sketch takes you.
Whether you are a beginner cardmaker looking for an easy place to start, or an experienced crafter wanting fresh inspiration for your stash, I hope this Week 6 sketch gives you a lovely reason to sit down, relax and make something beautiful.

Make the card your way, share what you create, and most importantly, enjoy the gentle pleasure of taking a little time out to craft.

Mother’s Day is the perfect time to make something heartfelt, pretty and personal — and this quick and easy handmade card is just beautiful for a beautiful mother.

For this card, I used the bright and happy Beautiful Ordinary Life Suite, paired with the elegant Bordered in Beauty Stamp and Die Bundle. Together, they create a Mother’s Day card that feels cheerful, feminine and very special, without being complicated to make.

A Bright and Happy Handmade Mother’s Day Card

The Beautiful Ordinary Life Designer Series Paper really does the hard work in this project. The colours are bright, fresh and happy, with gorgeous patterns that instantly make the card feel joyful and full of love.

For a Mother’s Day card, these papers are just perfect. They feel warm, pretty and uplifting — exactly the sort of card a mum, grandmother, mother-in-law or special mother figure would love to receive.

Using the Bordered in Beauty Stamp and Die Bundle

The combination of pretty patterned paper, soft stamped details and die-cut borders creates a card that looks polished without needing lots of complicated techniques.

Handmade Cards Mean So Much

A handmade Mother’s Day card carries something extra special. It says, “I made this just for you.”

It doesn’t need to be overly fancy or difficult. Sometimes the simplest handmade cards are the ones that are treasured most — especially when they are made with love, pretty papers and a heartfelt message inside.

This card is one of those projects. Quick, easy, bright, beautiful and made to be kept.

And in May, it’s even better — because you get to choose from two fantastic bonus options.

Here’s how it works:

✨ Option 1: (Best Value)
Even more value added to your kit (hello extra goodies!) in the form of the five brand new 2026 -2028 In Colour ink pads - a $112.50 value

OR

✨ Option 2:

Additional products of your choice to customise your kit even further - add an extra $65 of beautiful Stampin' Up! products to your starter kit!

Either way… you’re getting more for your money.

The Starter Kit is just $169, you choose up to $235 of product and then choose your bonus to get even more bang for your buck!

Where the Magic Starts… (It’s Simpler Than You Think)

It doesn’t start with perfection.

It doesn’t start with a perfectly organised craft room or every tool imaginable.

Most days… it starts like this:

Just me, a cup of tea

and a little pile of cardstock.

And that’s where the magic begins.

Simple Supplies, Simple Moments

There’s something very calming about sitting down with just the basics.

A few pieces of cardstock.

A stamp or two.

Maybe some scraps you’ve been saving.

Nothing fancy. Nothing overwhelming.

Just enough to begin.

The Quiet Joy of Creating

In a world that can feel busy and rushed, this little pocket of time matters.

No pressure.

No deadlines.

No need to rush.

Just the gentle rhythm of:

  • folding
  • layering
  • creating

And watching something take shape in your hands.

It Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated

It’s easy to think that beautiful cards need:

  • lots of supplies
  • expensive tools
  • complicated techniques

But they really don’t.

Some of the loveliest cards come from:

  • simple layouts
  • soft colour combinations
  • and a relaxed approach

Because when you’re calm… your creativity flows.

This Is Where It All Begins

Every card—whether it’s simple or a fancy fold—starts the same way:

With a decision to sit down and begin.

That’s it.

No waiting until everything is perfect.

No needing more supplies.

Just starting.

Come Sit With Me

If you’ve been thinking about crafting but haven’t quite started…

Let this be your little nudge.

Pop the kettle on.

Clear a small space.

Gather what you already have.

And come craft with me.

Tell Me…

What’s on your craft table right now?

Or what would you create if you had a quiet hour to yourself?

I’d love to hear 💕
