The Beauty of Faux Silk

When I first saw this technique I fell in love with it.

The simplicity and the softness highlight the silk-like texture that gives this card it's name.

And it lends itself to the gorgeous new 2024 - 2026 In Colour palette so well.

This was the most popular card at my Card Buffet in May, with everyone choosing to make it and some buying extra kits to take home!

The secret to a beautiful faux silk card is the tissue paper - don't be afraid to scrunch it up good, then open it out and scrunch it up again. Repeat this is you're not happy with the wrinkles.

The next trick is to use a glue stick to stick the tissue paper to the cardstock. Be generous and cover the entire mat with the glue stick, lay the tissue paper down and gently spread it from the centre, being careful to not flatten the wrinkles - these are what give it the faux silk look.

Here are some I've made - I just can't stop they are so pretty!
